A language disorder refers to problems with speaking, understanding, reading, and/or writing. A cognitive disorder refers to problems with attention, memory, and executive function (reasoning) skills. Examples of language and cognitive disorders include aphasia, right-hemisphere dysfunction, and cognitive-communication impairment. Language and cognitive disorders may result from neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury/concussion, Parkinson’s Disease, or dementia.
