Voice therapy addresses voice disorders…

A voice disorder (dysphonia) refers to changes in vocal quality resulting in abnormal pitch, loudness, or sound.  Symptoms may include hoarse/raspy voice, decreased pitch range, abnormal volume, effortful speech, breathiness, and/or vocal fatigue.  Voice disorders may be a result of vocal overuse, excessively loud speech, acid reflux, or smoking.  Sometimes these habits or conditions can lead to nodules, polyps, or cysts.  Voice disorders may also appear following surgery involving the larynx (voice box), radiation treatment, or neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease.
