Dementia
Dementia is a progressive neurological condition characterized by cognitive decline. It can negatively affect attention, memory, problem-solving, planning, organization, or communication skills. Depending on the dementia type, one of these areas may be affected more significantly than another.
Dementia is not a disease in and of itself, but rather a condition that results from a brain disease, such as Alzheimer’s. While the condition has no cure, speech therapy may be recommended to address cognitive-communication deficits.
