TBI/Concussion

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when the brain experiences injury due to forceful, physical contact from an outside source. Concussion is a mild form of TBI. Among the many possibilities, TBI/concussion is often a result of falls, sports injuries, or car accident.

TBI/concussion can lead to cognitive and communication deficits characterized by changes in attention, memory, planning, problem-solving, and speech/language. Speech therapy addresses these symptoms by offering techniques and strategies that minimize their affects.
